Job summary

Upstart is a digital-first AI lending platform seeking a DevOps Engineer (L4) to evolve its cloud platform. You will design and operate Kubernetes clusters (EKS), expand AWS infrastructure, and implement GitOps workflows across production and staging environments.

Collaborate with SRE, Delivery, InfoSec, and ML teams to boost reliability, cost efficiency, and developer experience. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to drive SLOs, reduce incidents, and deliver scalable, secure platform

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operating Kubernetes (EKS) clusters across production environments.
• Strong AWS infrastructure design including VPCs, IAM and networking.
• Proficient with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps (Terraform, CDK, ArgoCD).
• Ability to define SLOs, analyze incidents and implement systemic fixes.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate a fleet of Kubernetes (EKS) clusters across production, staging, and ephemerarrow environments, ensuring reliability and high availability
• Evolve AWS infrastructure and network architecture (VPCs, subnets, IAM, account structure) to support scalable, multi-team workloads
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code and GitOps workflows using tools such as Terraform, CDK, and ArgoCD
• Improve platform reliability and performance by defining and driving SLOs, analyzing incidents, and implementing systemic fixes
