Job summary

BigTime Software, Inc. seeks a DevOps Engineer in Chicago on a hybrid schedule to build and maintain AWS infrastructure, pipelines, and automation.

You will work across Windows and Linux, supporting containerized workloads, serverless components, and security/compliance as part of cross-functional teams. You will design IaC, manage CI/CD, and automate operations while collaborating with engineering and QA to ensure reliable releases.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of DevOps experience or similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on AWS experience and IaC best practices.
• Experience with Terraform (and Terragrunt).
• Docker & Kubernetes experience including Helm.
• Proficiency with Git and GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience deploying and monitoring .NET apps.
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or C#.
• Comfort across Windows and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of SQL (SQL Server).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; write things down.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure via IaC (Terraform) and CDK.
• Manage AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, DocDB.
• Run container workloads on EKS/ECS; maintain Helm charts and Helmfile.
• Build/maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Create scripts/tools to automate repetitive tasks.
• Patch, maintain, and monitor Windows and Linux services.
• Implement monitoring with CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry.
• Support security/compliance with SOC 2 controls.
• Collaborate with dev/QA for smooth releases; support serverless apps.
• Document infrastructure, processes, and DR/IR playbooks.
