Job summary

BigTime Software, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join the Technology Team in a hybrid role. You will build and maintain the infrastructure and pipelines that help engineering ship reliably and often, across Windows and Linux environments.

The role spans AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and OpenTelemetry, with collaboration across development and QA to enable smooth releases while documenting processes and maintaining security posture.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and best practices.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform.
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including Helm.
• Proficiency with Git and GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience deploying and monitoring .NET applications.
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or C#.
• Comfort across Windows and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of SQL, ideally SQL Server.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt.
• Deploy, configure, and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, and RDS.
• Run containerized workloads on EKS, ECS, and App Runner; manage Helm charts.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated build/test/deploy.
• Write scripts to automate repetitive operational tasks.
• Patch and maintain services across Windows and Linux environments.
• Monitor and log using CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
• Support SOC 2 controls and security/compliance with external auditors.
• Collaborate with development and QA for smooth releases.
• Document infrastructure, processes, and DR/IR playbooks.
