Job summary

Aquent is seeking a senior Systems Engineer to join a financial institution's enterprise IT team in Roanoke, TX. You will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of critical systems in a fast-paced trading environment.

Focused on automation, monitoring, and SDLC improvements, you will design scalable infrastructure, build dashboards, and mentor peers while delivering resilient operations for millions of daily users.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of enterprise-level administration and support.
• 6–8 years writing automation scripts and building proactive monitoring/alerting solutions.
• 6–8 years improving SDLC processes.
• Extensive hands-on enterprise systems administration, monitoring, and deployment.
• Proficiency with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 hosted via Virtual Machine.
• Strong IP networking knowledge: DNS, DHCP, firewalls, IP routing.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
• Development experience in one or more languages: .Net, C#, Powershell, YAML, Java, Python, Bash.
• Knowledge of SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgres.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Strong customer orientation and proactive ownership.
• Extreme problem-solving in distributed trading environments.
• Self-starter capable of delivering results independently.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience in enterprise-level administration and support.

• 6-8 years of experience practicing and improving SDLC processes.
• Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise systems administration, monitoring, and deployment.
• Proficiency with Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022) hosted via Virtual Machine.
• Solid understanding of IP networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and IP routing.
• Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
• Strong Linux and Windows system administration, troubleshooting, and tuning skills.
