Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a DevOps Developer Intern for Summer 2027. The role blends in-office and remote work to support collaboration and project delivery within the GAIG Surveyor portfolio.

You will work on features and tooling to improve developer experience, code quality, and debt tracking across a polyglot codebase, with emphasis on learning and adapting quickly. Ideal candidates are pursuing a CS/CE degree (class of 2028 or 2029) and are comfortable moving between Python,

• Ability to work in the office at minimum three days a week.
• Education: Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 2028/2029 graduation year.
• Tech stack: Python, scripting, Java, Kotlin and willingness to learn a large polyglot codebase.

Responsibilities

• Deliver new features and maintain Surveyor related products to improve developer experience, code quality and manage technical debt.
• Utilize AI to improve software quality, performance and delivery time for GAIG Surveyor tooling.

The Great American Software Lab is seeking a DevOps Developer Inter for summer 2027.

Responsibilities

Deliver new features and maintain Surveyor related products which help with our developer experience, code quality and technical debt. Surveyor is a portal for gathering / tracking and reporting technical debt across the GAIG porftolio Utilize AI to improve software quality, performance and delivery time.

Requirements

Ability to work in the office at minimum three days a week.

Education: Pursuing a degree In Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related 2028 or 2029 graduation year.

Experience/skills:Tech stack: Python, scripting, java, kotlin.Ability to dive into a large polyglot codebase and contribute as you learn.Being okay with the uncomfortable feeling that comes from learning new things.Interest in exploring new programming paradigms, languages, and patterns.Demonstrable ability to research problems and break them into discrete parts.Have empathy with your pair and freely exchange feedback on a continual basis.
