Job summary

Great American Insurance Group's Claims IT Team is seeking a Claims Lab Developer Intern for summer 2027. This hybrid role combines on-site collaboration with remote work to develop cloud-native software using Java and JavaScript, while supporting First Notice of Loss applications and external APIs.

Responsibilities include writing test cases, documenting new functionality, and collaborating with engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related; 2028 graduation preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Knowledge of REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Java and JavaScript experience is a plus (MarkLogic and RabbitMQ familiarity beneficial).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Assist in designing and developing cloud-native software, primarily in Java and JavaScript.
• Help create front-end web applications and back-end services used by the business.

The Claims IT Team is seeking a Claims Lab Developer Intern for summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with development engineers throughout the software development lifecycle
• Create test cases for new code
• Document and test new software functionality
• Work closely with engineers to design and develop cloud-native software primarily in Java and JavaScript
• Help create front-end web applications and back-end services that are actively being used
• Work with First Notice of Loss applications and externally facing APIs that allow people to report information and upload files

Requirements

• Ability to work in the office at minimum three days a week.

Education

Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related 2028 graduation year preferred

Experience / Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Knowledge of REST APIs and service-oriented architectures
• Java, Java-script, MarkLogic and RabbitMQ are a plus
