Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel Ltd is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the Community Adaptations Team in Tiverton, UK, on a 3-month contract with an hourly rate up to £35. The role covers Tiverton, Cullompton, Crediton, and Okehampton, focusing on adults from 18 through end-of-life care.

Two positions are available, with hours from 09:00 to 17:00. You will assess homes, provide equipment recommendations, and support independence through specialist OT interventions within community settings.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• HCPC registration in good standing.
• Community-based occupational therapy experience.
• Knowledge of equipment provision, Disabled Facilities Grants and housing adaptations.
• Experience conducting moving and handling assessments.
• Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Best Interest processes.
• Ability to independently manage a varied and complex caseload.
• Excellent assessment, report-writing and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a community Occupational Therapy caseload across homes, supported living and care homes.
• Conduct comprehensive OT assessments to identify needs and promote independence.
• Assess and recommend appropriate aids, equipment and adaptations.
• Complete moving and handling assessments to promote safety and wellbeing.
• Undertake assessments and recommendations under the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) framework.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans.
• Complete Mental Capacity Assessments and participate in Best Interest decision-making.
• Manage complex caseloads providing specialist OT interventions.
• Collaborate with social workers, health colleagues and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records, reports and professional documentation.
• Support service users to achieve positive outcomes and independence.
