Job summary

RADFORD CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS seeks an entry-level Technology Support Specialist I to help deploy, repair, and manage district-issued devices for students and staff. You’ll handle hardware repair, device distribution, inventory tracking, and basic troubleshooting, escalating complex issues to senior IT staff.

Responsibilities include setting up devices for staff, maintaining accurate records in the asset management system, and following district procedures while supporting classroom technology

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for computing devices.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License and ability to travel between school sites.
• Ability to pass required background checks and work with school staff and IT personnel.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain district-issued laptops, Chromebooks, and peripherals.
• Replace damaged components (screens, keyboards, batteries, ports) as needed.
• Prepare and configure devices for deployment to staff and students.
• Assist with distribution, collection, and reassignment of devices; support rollouts and onboarding.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and document repair activity in the asset system.
• Provide basic help desk support and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff.
