The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is seeking a Development Writer to join our Development Communications team in Cambridge, MA. You will craft donor‑friendly copy that explains complex biomedical research in plain language and supports broad fundraising priorities.

As a Development Writer, you will draft gift acknowledgements, stewardship reports, and event materials, while managing multiple writing projects to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or life sciences.
• 4+ years of professional writing experience in development or science comms.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication; copy editing is a plus.
• Keen editorial judgment for clarity, concision, and precision.
• Familiar with Broad Institute research and the Boston biomedical ecosystem.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, research, and fact-checking independently.
• Ability to work across diverse topics at a high level and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce donor-centered copy translating complex scientific concepts into clear lay language.
• Draft gift acknowledgements for the Chief Development Officer and senior leaders.
• Draft stewardship reports conveying scientific progress and impact.
• Draft and edit materials for Development activities (bios, invitations, post-event notes).
• Manage multiple writing assignments, track drafts and approvals, maintain records.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
