Basic Function

The Development & Test Engineer will leverage strong mechanical and electrical skills as a Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineer. This Engineer will build and test prototypes and equipment, dedicated to ultra-high vacuum. This role requires significant time on the production floor, along with data acquisition, analysis, test plan development, and creating Test Reports to accelerate New Product Development releases.

  • Build, validate, test prototypes and evaluation units.
  • Test, modify, and repair precision flow/pressure control equipment.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to define product performance requirements & manage test schedules.
  • Perform DVT by collaborating with Test Engineers, Failure Analysis, Service, and Customers.
  • Write & execute test plans.
  • Perform/automate data analysis & program using Excel, LabVIEW, VBA, or PowerBI.
  • Create professional PowerPoints (Data Packs, 8Ds) and Test Reports for internal and customer use.
  • Assist operations with equipment setup, validation, and troubleshooting during production.
  • Read/interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs (required).
  • Support Engineering Change Notices and safety/quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work independently and cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including cleanroom PPE requirements.

Education And Experience

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering (MS a plus).
  • 5-15 years’ experience in high-precision mechanical/electrical diagnostics, OEM equipment, or product development. New graduates may be considered with a strong background.
  • Associate’s degree holders in ME/EE fields with 3+ years’ relevant experience may be considered.
  • Preferred experience: OEM machinery, high/ultra-high vacuum systems, semiconductor manufacturing / instrumentation, process control devices (e.g., Mass Flow Controllers), or piping/manifold design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electrical diagnostics, calibration, and analog/digital protocols (e.g., RS485, EtherCAT).
  • Experienced using Electrical measuring tools such as DMM, Oscilloscope, and LCR meters.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for prototype assembly/modification.
  • Technical writing, data analysis, and multi-disciplinary teamwork skills.
  • Plus: GD&T knowledge, Solidworks/AutoCAD, Solidworks certifications, PDM (Teamcenter), flow analysis (COMSOL/Ansys), or standards experience (ASME, SEMI, UL).

Other Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit at equipment for extended periods, in clean rooms with required PPE.
