Job summary

Redwood Materials is hiring a Development Engineering Technician to support a wide range of analytical and metallurgical processes in lab, pilot, and production settings. Under moderate supervision, you will help start up and test new processes and equipment, perform experiments, and optimize unit operations.

Qualifications

  • A.S. or B.S. degree in a related field.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain relevant processing equipment.
  • Ability and interest in assembling and fabricating process equipment to support operations.
  • Experience with laboratory sample preparation and analysis.
  • Familiarity of OSHA/MSHA rules and regulations and chemical hazards and industrial safety programs.
  • Capability to work in challenging conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes for extended periods in full PPE suits and head covers.
  • Knowledge and proper use of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, fitted masks, PAPR, Tyvek suit, safety shoes, and other personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Physical ability to stand, lift, and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
  • Proficient using MS Office, including Excel spreadsheets and Word documentation.
  • Ability to work a shift schedule, with a willingness to be flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on monitoring and optimization of lab, pilot, and production scale processes.
  • Follow technical instructions & SOPs.
  • Meticulous data collection and observation recording.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of math, chemistry and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proven track record of safety-consciousness and capable of learning applicable EHS standards and proper chemical handling techniques.
  • Capacity to work independently and safely with minimal supervision.
