Job summary

CFS in Houston seeks a Development Operations Specialist to join the Advancement team, handling gift processing, data management, and financial reconciliation. You will support reporting, donor communications, and stewardship activities while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in nonprofit settings; Raiser's Edge NXT experience is strongly preferred, with strong Excel skills and collaborative, service-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in nonprofit development, advancement services, gift processing, or related roles
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or Raiser's Edge NXT strongly preferred
  • StrongExcel and Office proficiency; ability to reconcile data between CRM and accounting systems

Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile gifts, pledges, grants, and restricted funds with donor intent
  • Enter, maintain, and reconcile gift activity in Raiser's Edge NXT
  • Prepare financial reports, fund statements, and supporting schedules for leadership review
  • Create fundraising progress reports, data analyses, and dashboards for campaigns

What You'll Be Doing As a Development Operations Specialist
  • Process and reconcile gifts, pledges, grants, and restricted funds while ensuring accuracy and adherence to donor intent.
  • Enter, maintain, track, and reconcile gift activity in Raiser's Edge NXT.
  • Ensure accurate and timely donor and gift data across Raiser's Edge NXT and accounting systems.
  • Prepare financial reports, fund statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for internal and leadership review.
  • Prepare fundraising progress reports, data analysis, and dashboards to help monitor fundraising and campaign performance.
  • Process vendor payments, reimbursements, contracts, and other Development-related expenditures with appropriate documentation.
  • Support gift acknowledgments, donor communications, and stewardship activities.
  • Assist with gift transmittals, reporting, and resolution of discrepancies between Development and Finance.
  • Collaborate with Development, Finance, and program teams to ensure accurate financial and donor information.
  • Assist with audits, tax reporting, and other compliance requirements as needed.
  • Maintain data integrity and accurate donor records within Raiser's Edge NXT.
  • Help develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for Development operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and data accuracy.
  • Provide responsive support to internal teams, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications Of The Development Operations Specialist
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, advancement services, gift processing, accounting, finance, donor relations, or a related field.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or Raiser's Edge NXT strongly preferred.
  • Experience with gift processing, account reconciliation, financial reporting, or donor data management.
  • Strong understanding of Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
  • Experience reconciling data between a CRM/database and accounting or financial systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising operations, donor-restricted funds, or fund accounting preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, collaborative, and service-oriented approach when working with donors, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling financial and donor information.
