Job summary

LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services in Leesburg, VA is seeking a Development Associate to oversee operations, events, private grants, and donor care. You will support the Director of Development to secure major gifts and ensure donors are thanked and informed.

This role requires strong organizational skills, experience in nonprofit fundraising, and proficiency with Neon CRM. You will help manage budgets, reporting, and compliance while growing LAWS' philanthropic partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or nonprofit management.
• 2–3 years in development, nonprofit, events, or admin support.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with donor databases/CRM (Neon preferred) and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to handle confidential donor information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day financial oversight, controls, and reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow monitoring with clear financial reporting to CEO and Board.
• Maintain audit readiness and coordinate annual audit and tax filings.
• Ensure grant-funded activity and restricted funds are spent/reported as required.
• Oversee billing, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, and expense coding.
• Improve operational systems and administrative infrastructure.
• Supervise and develop the administrative team (HR, grants, finance/ops).
• Manage vendor, IT, facilities, and security relationships.
• Oversee HR systems and personnel administration with the HR Manager.
• Lead efficiency initiatives to strengthen operations as LAWS grows.
