Job summary

Akina is seeking a Development Operations Engineer 0 to provide Tier I/II support for the watchfloor in a 24x7 environment at Fort Meade, MD. The role requires scripting with Python/Bash, Docker, and Kubernetes experience, plus a TS/SCI-Poly clearance.

You will serve as SPOC between providers and users, log incidents, diagnose issues, and escalate as needed. The position offers substantial benefits, 24 days PTO, holidays, a vested 401k, and comprehensive healthcare.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience with software deployments, Linux administration, containerization, cloud deployments.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science; Master’s as an option.
• May substitute four years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier I/II support for the watchfloor in a 24×7/365 environment.
• Operate as SPOC between service provider and operational users.
• Capture, log, categorize, and prioritize incidents via a ticketing system.
• Cover the watch floor if not elsewhere.
• Perform initial diagnosis using established knowledge bases and incident models.
• Attempt first-contact resolution for standard issues (password resets, account access, basic navigation).
• Escalate unresolved incidents to Tier II support.
• Maintain incident status communication with users throughout resolution.
• Document troubleshooting steps to expand the knowledge base.
• Provide 24/7/365 coverage via rotating 12 hour shifts (0500 and 1700 daily) on a 2 week rotation.

Description:

Provide Tier I/II support for the integrated watchfloor capability within a 24×7/365 operational environment.

Operate as single point of contact (SPOC) between the service provider and operational users.

Capture, log, categorize, and prioritize all incidents via a standardized ticketing system.

Cover the watch floor if not elsewhere.

Perform initial diagnosis using established knowledge bases and incident models.

Attempt first-contact resolution for standard issues (password resets, account access, basic navigation, known errors).

Escalate unresolved incidents to Tier II support via functional escalation procedures.

Maintain incident status communication with users throughout the resolution lifecycle.

Document all troubleshooting steps and resolution actions to populate and expand the knowledge base.

Provide 24/7/365 coverage via rotating 12 hour shifts (0500 and 1700 daily), aligning with 2 week rotation schedules.

Position Desired Skills:

• Scripting with Python / Bash.
• Experience with Docker.
• Recent (within 3 years) hands‑on work with Kubernetes and cluster orchestration.
• Familiarity with security‑focused DevOps practices.
• 24 × 7 call‑in support for operational system critical discrepancies.

DEVOPS0 Qualifications:

Two (2) years of experience with software and system deployments, Linux system administration, containerization, cloud deployments, Development Security Operations.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science

May substitute two (2) years of experience with Masters of Science in Engineering or Computer Science.

May substitute four (4) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree

Salary Range: $141k-$173k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
