Job summary

Maricopa County Community College District seeks a Development Officer – Stewardship & Donor Relations to advance donor engagement across the MCCCD Foundation, District Office, and 10 colleges. Job Summary

The Development Officer – Stewardship & Donor Relations plays a key role in advancing donor engagement and philanthropic impact across the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation, District Office, and the 10 MCCCD colleges. This position leads the Foundation's donor stewardship efforts through meaningful recognition, impact reporting, donor communications, and engagement opportunities designed to strengthen relationships and enhance donor retention. Working collaboratively with Foundation staff, college leadership, and District partners, the Development Officer – Stewardship & Donor Relations develops and implements stewardship strategies and donor experiences that highlight the impact of philanthropy in supporting student success, workforce development, and equitable access to higher education across the Maricopa Community Colleges system.

Essential Functions
  • 25% - Impact Reporting & Communications
    • Gather and translate student success outcomes, program metrics, and financial data into donor-focused impact narratives demonstrating the use of funds
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop stewardship materials, impact stories, and donor engagement campaigns
    • Lead the annual endowment report distribution process, in collaboration with marketing, fiscal and Systems Administrator
    • Work with the Scholarship team to send named Restricted fund donors an annual report
  • 25% - Donor Stewardship Strategy & Execution
    • Develop and implement a strategic stewardship plan aligned with Foundation priorities and the donor lifecycle
    • Create tiered stewardship experiences for major donors, annual donors, corporate partners, and grant funders
    • Ensure timely acknowledgment, reporting, and recognition practices that strengthen donor relationships and long-term engagement
  • 25% - Data & Systems Management
    • Partner with the Foundation Network and Systems Administrator to track and report stewardship activity within Raiser's Edge, including acknowledgments, reports, and donor touchpoints
    • Analyze financial, scholarship, and donor data to support stewardship reporting and engagement strategies
    • 15% - Donor Recognition
      • Develop and oversee donor recognition programs based on giving levels and affinity groups
      • Support colleges with memorial and naming opportunities
      • Maintain donor recognition policies and guidelines
      • Work with the gift processor to update thank you/receipt letters and online gift acknowledgements
      • Develop plan for utilizing Gratavid to send video thank you messages to donors
    • 10% - Events & Engagement
      • Plan and execute donor stewardship and engagement events, including scholarship celebrations, campus tours, and donor meetings
      • Collaborate with Foundation leadership, Board members, District and College leadership, and program staff to coordinate donor appreciation and engagement opportunities
      • Perform other duties as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in marketing, communications or related field and two years of experience assisting with and/or coordinating various fundraising campaigns and activities.
    OR
    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

    Desired Qualifications
    • 2+ years of stewardship experience, preferably in higher education
    • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, such as Raiser's Edge and Salesforce, including data entry, management, reporting, track metrics, and maintenance of donor records
    • 2+ years of experience with donor reporting, scholarships, or endowment stewardship
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects, donor tours, and stewardship events while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong communication, writing, and creative skills to enhance stewardship and donor relations efforts and translate data into meaningful donor impact stories
    • One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years

    • Travel to various campus locations may be required
