Job summary

First Student, Inc. in Billings, Montana is seeking a Manager in Development (MID) to lead a fast-paced student transportation operation. This on-site program offers mentorship, real-world experience, and a clear path to advancement in a growing organization.

As a MID, you will rotate through dispatch, road supervision, safety, finance, and HR, working closely with seasoned managers to support staffing, scheduling, and compliance while driving improvement and strong team relations.

Qualifications

• Leadership and a drive to learn and grow.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, people-first environment.
• Must be based in Billings or willing to relocate.
• Previous operations or management experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Dive into daily operations - learn how to run a location from the ground up.
• Take part in rotations with multiple departments, including but not limited to: dispatch, road supervision, safety, finance, and HR.
• Work side-by-side with experienced managers, supporting everything from staffing and scheduling to safety and compliance
• Lead projects, troubleshoot issues, and drive process improvements
• Build strong relationships with staff, drivers, and school partners
• Support the Location Manager and help deliver safe, reliable service every day
