Food Bank of the Rockies is seeking a Development Manager to support the Director of Development and Community Relations with designing and executing the development strategy for the Western Slope Distribution Center and the 13 counties we serve.

This role conducts donor prospect research and cultivates a diverse portfolio of individuals, foundations, and corporate donors, helping advance fundraising goals and community engagement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s preferred.
• 3+ years fundraising experience; Raiser's Edge/TeamRaiser experience highly desired.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to build collaborative partnerships with staff, community and funders.
• Knowledge of moves management and individual solicitation, events, and corporate partnerships.

Responsibilities

The Development Manager is vital to growing community support as Food Bank of the Rockies deepens relationships with community partners and grows its base through meaningful philanthropic engagement.
The Development Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Development and Community Relations with designing and executing the development strategy for Food Bank of the Rockies Western Slope Distribution Center and the 13 counties we serve. This position is responsible for conducting donor prospect research, as well as cultivating and stewarding a diverse portfolio of relationships including individuals, foundations, and corporate donors. The Development Manager is responsible for the identification of local grant opportunities and supports the Grants team with applications and reports. This position represents the work of Food Bank of the Rockies to enhance fundraising efforts through community engagement and presentation opportunities.

Development Support: 40%

• Oversee the daily management of donor gifts and delegate stewardship across the team to ensure accuracy and compliance with donor intent and organizational standards
• Review revenue and donation reports to ensure accuracy, working with the Director of Development & Community Relations and Denver Data Development Team to maintain clean donor records
• Support the Director of Development & Community Relations by providing leadership and oversight for the implementation of development strategies across the Western Slope
• Represent Food Bank of the Rockies’ mission with genuine passion and professionalism, including participation at community presentations and events
• Provide support with data requests for donors, partners and development outreach strategies
• Perform campaign analysis for development initiatives by determining KPIs and trackable metrics
• Participate in Direct Mail initiatives by reviewing donor messaging and donor segmentation
• Work closely with marketing and development staff to manage and deliver sponsorship benefits, ensuring fulfillment of partnership agreements

Donor Relations: 25%

• Actively manage a mixed portfolio of donors and prospects (individual, corporate, foundation, association, government), including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
• Manage and implement sponsorship/recognition strategies for donors and ensure deliverables are met
• Oversee the Feed365 monthly donor program, including record keeping, outreach, retention, and recognition strategies
• Support the team by performing and encouraging meaningful donor actions that move relationships forward and provide a positive donor experience
• Meet goals by measurement of meaningful interactions, including phone, in-person, and email conversations for cultivation, stewardship, and solicitations from corporate supporters and event attendees, and individual support
• Conduct donor prospect research to identify new giving opportunities

Corporate Engagement:25%

• Cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate donor and sponsor relationships across the Western Slope service area
• Lead planning and execution of the annual Corporate Challenge, including recruitment, coordination, and recognition of participating businesses
• Secure cash and in-kind support for key programs, mobile pantries, and community events
• Launch and oversee special initiatives focused on strategic partnerships and innovation in corporate giving
• Represent Food Bank of the Rockies at corporate donor meetings
• Prepare correspondence and talking points to support corporate engagement efforts
• Create, manage, and grow workplace giving, matching gifts, and peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities with corporate partners

Other Support: 10%

• Work as a cross-functional team member to promote Food Bank of the Rockies brand/message to potential donors, the community, and staff
• Provide work assignments for Development volunteers and interns
• Handle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or others

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• Three years or more fundraising experience preferredExtensive experience in Raiser’s Edge or another fundraising database; knowledge and experience in Blackbaud’s Team Raiser is highly desired
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook
• Commitment to fulfilling the Food Bank of the Rockies mission and positively representing the brand
• Ability to build highly collaborative partnerships with Food Bank of the Rockies staff, community, and potential funders
• Knowledge of best practices in development, including moves management and individual solicitation, cause marketing, event planning, corporate partnerships, and promotions

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, exempt role working approximately 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary each week and consist of weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays and should maintain Food Bank of the Rockies core hours of 8am – 4pm. May require working some nights and weekends based on organizational needs, less than 15% of the time.
