Job summary

Food Bank of the Rockies is seeking a Warehouse Operations Specialist to support efficient warehouse operations and deliver a positive volunteer experience. The role handles food distribution, inventory support, volunteer coordination, and compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification.
• Experience with inventory management, warehouse management systems, or volunteer management systems is a plus.

• Store, stage, pack, rotate, and restock food products according to storage guidelines.
• Keep pick locations full and organized by restocking and replenishing products.
• Pull large delivery orders in priority order and verify accuracy before distribution.
• Assist with inventory counts and research discrepancies with the Inventory team.
• Set up volunteer work areas and activities and provide shift orientation.
• Train volunteers on tasks and safety standards and Food Bank of the Rockies' mission.
• Maintain safe, clean warehouse and volunteer areas in compliance with standards.
• Complete daily setup, end-of-shift, and close-of-business procedures.

Your Role in Our Mission

The Warehouse Operations Specialist supports efficient warehouse operations while creating a positive, safe, and engaging volunteer experience. This role is responsible for food distribution activities, inventory support, volunteer coordination, and maintaining compliance with safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.

This position is intentionally designed as a cross-functional role that supports both warehouse operations and volunteer engagement activities. The Warehouse Operations Specialist is expected to provide flexible support where needed to ensure efficient food distribution, exceptional volunteer experience, and seamless day-to-day operations. This role serves as a key contributor throughout warehouse operations, helping ensure food is distributed accurately and efficiently while supporting volunteers who make the work possible.

What You’ll Do

• Store, stage, pack, rotate, and restock food products according to food storage, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
• Keep pick locations full and organized by restacking, rearranging, and replenishing product as needed.
• Pull large delivery orders in priority order and verify order accuracy before distribution.
• Verify pick bins, support accurate inventory counts, and work with the Inventory team to research discrepancies, including zero-count items.
• Assist with product recalls, including processing recall items received from Feeding America and monitoring compliance requirements.
• Set up volunteer work areas and activities by placing food, boxes, supplies, and equipment in the appropriate locations.
• Check in volunteers, provide shift orientation and wrap‑up instructions, and deliver responsive customer service support throughout each shift.
• Train volunteers on assigned tasks, Food Bank of the Rockies' mission, safe work practices, and applicable packing and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a positive, organized, and engaging volunteer experience while reinforcing workplace safety, sanitation, and food handling expectations.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized warehouse and volunteer work areas in accordance with Feeding America, American Institute of Baking (AIB), and Food Bank of the Rockies standards.
• Complete daily setup, housekeeping, end‑of‑shift breakdown, and close‑of‑business procedures, including securing operational areas.
• Collaborate across departments to support consistent procedures, operational efficiency, and a positive experience for volunteers, community partners, and team members.
• Participate in cross‑training and ongoing learning to strengthen operational versatility and provide coverage during staff absences, peak workloads, and changing operational needs.

• Frequent exposure to warehouse environment: extreme cold and varying warm temperatures, occasional indoor office environment, temperature‑controlled
• Uses heavy equipment daily including forklift, stand up/sit down lift truck, scissor lift, step up pallet jack, and automatic pallet jack
• Using office equipment such as a computer, mouse, keyboard, and printer
• Ability to push and pull up to 2,000 lb. pallets with a manual pallet jack
• Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a non‑exempt, full‑time position working approximately 40 hours per week. Typical work schedule consists of Monday through Friday, 7:30AM – 4PM. Work schedules may occasionally include evenings and Saturdays, based on organizational needs.

Compensation:$21.50 - $23.50 hourly.
