Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of progressive nonprofit development/fundraising experience.
• Experience with annual giving, stewardship, grants, sponsorships, events, and donor database management.
• Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and project management skills.
• Mission-aligned; Catholic/parish community connections preferred; CFRE a plus.

Your Impact

As Development Manager, you’ll lead day-to-day fundraising and donor engagement that strengthens support for the Society’s work across Baton Rouge. This role exists to turn annual plans into sustained giving, deepen relationships, and build the systems that keep philanthropy growing.

Key responsibilities include managing annual giving and donor stewardship; coordinating grant activity; supporting fundraising events and corporate sponsorships; overseeing donor communications; maintaining accurate donor database records and timely reporting; and supervising a development team member while coordinating daily development operations.

Required qualifications/skills:

• Bachelor’s in a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–5 years of progressive nonprofit development/fundraising experience
• Experience with annual giving, stewardship, grants, sponsorships, events, and donor database management
• Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and project management skills

A Typical Day

You’ll start in the office reviewing overnight donor activity and messages, then connect with the President & CEO and teammates to align priorities. Midday may include drafting or refining donor-facing updates, preparing materials for an upcoming event, or meeting a community or parish partner to strengthen shared support. Between conversations, you’ll keep an eye on dashboards and notes so every interaction is captured cleanly. The afternoon often brings planning time—organizing timelines, checking in with your direct report, and shaping next steps for outreach. Some weeks include evening flexibility for special events, where you’ll see supporters and mission meet in real time.
