Job summary

Gilbert Team invites motivated engineering students to join the Undergraduate Internship Program as an Engineering Intern. You’ll work with the Development Engineering group on permit reviews, inspections, and documentation for municipal projects.

This semester-long internship (Spring 2027) offers dedicated mentorship, meaningful project work, and exposure to municipal government processes. Expect a part-time schedule with up to 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Complete design reviews of engineering utility and development engineering permits for private developments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, plans and ordinances.
• Process, track, and create records for ongoing and completed design reviews.
• Provide support to Development Engineers, Engineering Right-of-Way Manager, Engineering Technicians, and other staff.
• Perform field inspections of engineering and development engineering permits and coordinate inspection-related activities.
• Review building and site plans, engineering reports, electrical diagrams and other inspection-related documents.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of inspections and code compliance activities.
• Document and enter inspection information in computer databases.
• Work on the Development Services team and learn from experienced leaders.
