Job summary

William & Mary is seeking a Development Associate in the School of Computing, Data Sciences & Physics. Based in Williamsburg, this hybrid, non-exempt role supports donor stewardship, engagement, and fundraising communications within University Advancement.

You will coordinate donor relations, assist with events, prepare reports, and collaborate with leadership to advance CDSP fundraising priorities while maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Strong working knowledge of general office policies and processes with the ability to provide strong administrative support and interpret, apply and communicate a variety of policies and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability interface effectively and discreetly with a diverse constituency and work collaboratively as strong team player.
• Strong administrative skills, with the ability to draft and revise documents in a variety of formats, order supplies and coordinate meeting logistics.
• Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills, with a demonstrated eye for detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with a variety of software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as web-based applications.
• Demonstrated ability working as a strong team player as well as independently; exercise sound judgment in all interactions and when making decisions or recommendations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks, relationships and other competing priorities within tight deadlines.
• Strong administrative experience in a complex organization.
• Demonstrated experience supporting several staff with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and execution of donor stewardship and engagement activities that support fundraising priorities for the School of Computing, Data Sciences, and Physics (CDSP).
• Coordinate donor recognition efforts, including gift acknowledgements, stewardship correspondence, impact reports, donor profiles, and recognition materials.
• Draft, proofread, and facilitate donor-facing communications on behalf of development leadership, including thank-you letters, event invitations, newsletters, and impact updates.
• Support the preparation of donor stewardship reports and collaborate with appropriate University Advancement partners to gather content demonstrating the impact of philanthropic investments.
• Coordinate logistics for donor visits, cultivation opportunities, stewardship events, and special programs, including scheduling, invitations, registration management, briefing materials, event preparation, and day-of support.
• Support engagement related to university-wide fundraising initiatives such as Homecoming, Charter Day, One Tribe One Day, and other development-driven campaigns as they relate to CDSP.
• Assist with prospect and proposal research, data gathering, and report preparation to support fundraising strategy and donor engagement efforts.
• Maintain accurate donor, event, and stewardship records and assist with generating reports that track engagement activity and fundraising progress.
