Job summary

University of Chicago’s Smart Museum of Art Development seeks an Assistant Director of Development to support fundraising and donor engagement. You will lead stewardship, prepare reports, and coordinate donor visits and events in collaboration with Advancement and the Museum.

The role focuses on cultivating foundations, corporate support, and individual donors to build the pipeline and increase philanthropic support in the next three to five years.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating donor stewardship and gift acknowledgments.
• Ability to manage donor databases and generate reports.
• Strong collaboration with museum and university advancement teams.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, cultivates, and sustains foundation and corporate support through prospect research and stewardship communications.
• Guides the Museum's direct response program and multi-channel campaigns to retain, renew, and grow annual giving.
• Cultivates and engages donors through visits and targeted communications to strengthen relationships and increase philanthropic support.
• Leads donor stewardship, including acknowledgments, recognition, and engagement events.
• Manages gifts of art, including curatorial briefings and tax documentation.
