Job summary

The Columbia Museum of Art is seeking a Director of Advancement to lead philanthropy in pursuit of sustainable revenue growth. This senior role will shape donor strategy, manage a four-person team, and collaborate with the Executive Director and Board to advance CMA’s mission and growth plans.

Responsibilities include developing comprehensive fundraising plans, expanding the donor pipeline, and overseeing rentals and sponsorship programs while ensuring exceptional donor stewardship and reporting.

Qualifications

• Approximately 8–10 years of advancement/fundraising experience with leadership responsibility.
• Experience in major gifts and donor engagement within a museum or cultural institution preferred.
• Ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies across revenue streams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all advancement activities and annual/long-term plans.
• Lead the Advancement department (four team members) and manage pipelines, forecasts, and accountability.
• Develop a diversified philanthropic program including gifts, sponsorships, grants, and endowment support.
• Expand donor prospect pipeline within Columbia and South Carolina.
• Oversee rentals, events, sponsorships, and earned revenue activities.
• Partner with the Executive Director and Board on donor strategy and fundraising reporting.
