Job summary

The Columbia Museum of Art is seeking a Director of Advancement to lead philanthropy and revenue broadly. You will be the principal strategist for contributed revenue, guiding major gifts, corporate and foundation support, memberships, grants, sponsorships, and events.

You will partner with the Executive Director and Board, develop long-range fundraising plans, expand the donor pipeline, and ensure disciplined gift tracking, forecasting, and reporting for CMA's ambitious growth.

Qualifications

• Approximately 8–10 years of progressively responsible advancement, development, or fundraising experience, including significant leadership responsibility.
• Experience in major gifts, including personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding significant philanthropic support.
• Experience developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies across multiple revenue streams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Advancement department, currently four team members, and build capacity for CMA's growth.
• Develop annual and long-term plans aligned with CMA's priorities and set ambitious contributed-revenue goals.
• Strengthen donor relationships and broaden CMA's prospect pipeline in Columbia and across South Carolina.
• Oversee rentals, events, sponsorships, and other earned-revenue activities within Advancement.
• Partner with Executive Director and Board to engage donors and provide timely reporting on fundraising performance.
