Job summary

House of Ruth Maryland is seeking an Associate Director of Development & Engagement to lead the Development Department, translating fundraising goals into actionable plans and stewarding mid-level donors.

This role oversees annual giving, donor engagement, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, campaigns, and events, while providing leadership to the Marketing & Communications Manager. Collaboration across departments is essential to drive revenue and impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business administration, public relations, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressive nonprofit fundraising or development experience.
• Demonstrated success managing annual giving programs, donor stewardship, and fundraising campaigns.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of fundraising best practices, donor cultivation, and nonprofit marketing.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience collaborating across departments and managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational leader of the Development Department, ensuring fundraising initiatives are planned, implemented, and evaluated.
• Collaborate to establish annual fundraising goals, priorities, and performance metrics.
• Oversee donation tracking and processing including log and lockbox.
• Assist in planning campaign timelines and priorities with leadership.
• Partner on House of Ruth Maryland’s signature fundraising events to meet revenue and donor engagement goals.
• Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors and cultivate relationships to increase retention and giving.
• Develop stewardship strategies to enhance donor experience across giving levels.
• Identify and transition qualified donors into the major gifts pipeline.
• Support corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and community engagement initiatives.
• Monitor fundraising performance and adapt strategies for growth.
