Job summary

Empowered by Light is seeking a Development Director to partner with the Executive Director, Board, and fundraising committees to build a robust donor network and sustainable revenue. The role focuses on major gifts, foundations, and corporate partnerships to support long-term growth.

This is a remote position open to all U.S. candidates, with SF Bay Area-based engagement preferred and regular in-person meetings with donors, board members, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5+ years of fundraising experience.
• Experience asking for and closing major gifts.
• Track record of building and maintaining long-term donor relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Experience planning and managing budgetary responsibilities.
• Demonstrated success securing foundation and institutional funding.
• Comfort working in a small, informal nonprofit environment.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Raise $3M in contributed revenue over two fiscal years.
• Grow major donor pipeline and stewardship program.
• Expand foundation and corporate partnerships.
• Build fundraising systems and donor engagement practices.
• Increase board engagement in fundraising.
• Develop and lead Major Gifts program, including prospect identification and tailored solicitations.
