Job summary

Thread is seeking a Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts and manage the development team in Baltimore, MD. You will drive short and long-term strategies, cultivate relationships with individuals, government sources, foundations, and corporate giving, and collaborate with community leaders and donors to advance Thread’s mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of equivalent experience.
• 5+ years leading fundraising programs including major gifts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
• Ability to recruit, engage, motivate, and support volunteers for major gift solicitations.
• Passion for raising funds to transform Baltimore City residents.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to translate organizational strategy into fundraising goals and plans.
• Experience directing donor relations programs – cultivation, stewardship, events, and gift management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and collaboration.
• Proficient with Google Suite, Asana, and Salesforce.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the CEO, EVP of Involvement, and senior leadership to develop and execute Thread’s fundraising strategy.
• Set and achieve ambitious financial goals to support growth of Thread’s nationally acclaimed model.
• Identify public and private funding opportunities beyond Thread’s traditional donor base.
• Manage a personal portfolio with solicitation, closure, and stewardship of new donors through in-person meetings and site visits.
• Supervise development team members responsible for grant writing, prospect research, briefing, proposals, and reporting.
• Identify, recruit, and develop an expanded circle of staff, Board, and volunteer leadership.
• Represent Thread at civic and cultural events and conferences as approved.
• Foster cooperation with Thread staff to develop initiatives growing the portfolio.
• Use metrics to inspire donor enthusiasm and support.
