Job summary

NC Local is a statewide nonprofit newsroom seeking an experienced Development Director to lead our major gifts strategy and build our donor program. You will own the donor journey from prospecting to close, working closely with the CEO to shape our individual giving and cultivate institutional funders.

You’ll also build and direct our development team, collaborating with editorial and operations, and with NC Local’s board on fundraising governance and growth.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of nonprofit development with increasing responsibility.
• Closed individual gifts in the five and six figures.
• Raised money from individuals and foundations, with known relationships.
• Writes proposals and donor communications clearly and persuasively.
• Experience leading a fundraising team and developing systems.
• Uses data to set fundraising goals and strategies.
• Familiar with CRMs, prospect research and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Build major gifts program and manage donor portfolio.
• Develop and run campaigns to secure transformational gifts.
• Lead the development team and establish processes.
• Collaborate with CEO and Board to grow giving strategy.
• Foster donor-centered approaches and annual reporting to supporters.
