Job summary

Vineyard Conservation Society seeks an experienced and entrepreneurial director of development to design, lead, and grow a dynamic fundraising program that reflects the distinctive character of Martha’s Vineyard, providing strategic leadership in financial development through major gifts, annual giving, grants, bequests, and campaigns.

This in-person role at the Wakeman Center offers flexibility and some remote hours; you will report to the executive director, engage a participatory board, and

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fundraising experience with a focus on major gifts and relationship-based fundraising.
• Proven success in one-to-one solicitations and cultivating six-figure+ gifts.
• Experience supporting the executive director and board leadership in closing gifts.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement a comprehensive development plan including annual giving and major campaigns.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of major donors with personalized engagement.
• Oversee development operations, CRM management, gift processing, and reporting.
