Job summary

Gorton Center in Lake Forest, IL, seeks an energetic Director of Development to guide fundraising across annual funds, major gifts, sponsorships, and donor stewardship, reporting to the Executive Director and supervising the Manager of Donor Engagement.

The role collaborates with the Board to advance Gorton’s growth, supports a capital campaign in its final phase, and builds strong donor relationships to expand programs and community impact.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work with a Board and volunteers.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of donor databases and donor management practices.
• Experience with annual giving and major gifts programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising strategy and oversee annual fund, major gifts, sponsorships, planned giving and donor stewardship.
• Coordinate fundraising events and volunteer engagement.
• Manage a personal portfolio of prospects and work with the Board and Executive Director.
• Plan and support capital campaigns in collaboration with the Board and Development Committee.
• Guide development staff and partner with vendors as needed.
