Constructive Dialogue Institute, Inc. (CDI) seeks an Associate Director or Director of Development to lead fundraising operations, grant writing, and reporting, reporting to the Co-Founder and Executive Director.

You’ll run a well-organized fundraising operation and own grant-writing responsibilities, enabling CDI to scale impact. This is a senior development role requiring exceptional writing, operational excellence, and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, funder-facing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in development or fundraising, including experience writing successful grants in six- and seven-figure range.
• An excellent writer and communicator who can make complex ideas clear and compelling for different audiences.
• Exceptionally organized and self-directed; you keep work moving, stay ahead of deadlines, and require minimal oversight.
• Experience building systems and processes that keep fundraising work running smoothly in smaller or growing organizations.
• Passionate about constructive dialogue and aligned with CDI’s values.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and submission of compelling grant proposals, reports, and donor materials.
• Translate CDI’s work and impact into clear, compelling narratives for funders while staying true to CDI’s voice and strategy.
• Collaborate with Finance, Marketing & Communications, and program teams to gather content for grant proposals and reports.
• Maintain a high bar for quality of grant materials and the efficiency of processes behind them.
• Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar; proactively manage deadlines for grants and funder commitments.
• Own the systems and infrastructure behind CDI’s fundraising work (e.g., HubSpot and funder records).
• Refine core assets like grant content, case studies, pitch decks, templates, and annual reports with Marketing/Communications.
• Partner with Finance to process contributions, track grant requirements, and maintain funder documentation.
• Keep fundraising pipeline current and translate into revenue projections with Finance.
• Improve workflows and tools that keep CDI’s fundraising function running smoothly.
• Proactively manage Executive Director’s funder relationships and support strategy development.
• Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities and inform strategy.
