Job summary

Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) is seeking a Development Director to lead the organization’s fundraising strategy from the Oakland office. You will oversee fundraising activities across individual donors, major gifts, grants, corporate engagement, and events, while guiding development operations and CRM systems.

The role requires 2–5 years nonprofit fundraising experience, strong grant-writing skills, and leadership ability to grow revenue toward the annual $850,000 budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; required for the role
• 2–5 years nonprofit fundraising experience
• 2–5 years of grant writing, reporting, and donor communication
• Strong budgeting and financial oversight experience
• Proven record of achieving revenue targets and leading teams
• Excellent written and oral fundraising communications

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead development initiatives to meet the $850K annual budget
• Collaborate with Exec Director and Board to implement development plans
• Write grant proposals and reports for foundations and donors
• Oversee CRM, data management, and fundraising analytics
• Cultivate major gifts and donor relationships; expand corporate engagement
• Supervise staff and volunteers in the development department
