Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a Senior Director, Development to lead fundraising strategy and drive revenue growth across major giving channels. You will shape donor engagement, manage a high-performing team, and partner with senior leadership to advance the organization's 2030 goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, philanthropic studies, communications, sociology, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive nonprofit development experience.
• Proven success generating revenue in all major arenas, including individual, planned, corporate, foundation giving, and special events.
• Knowledge and practice of the ethical standards within the fundraising industry.
• Proven leadership and staff management experience.
• Comfort engaging with senior leaders including the President & CEO and board members.
• Excellent written, attention to detail, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using Raiser's Edge.

Responsibilities

• Lead a culture of high performance, accountability, and results.
• Drive execution against annual fundraising goals and address performance gaps.
• Set clear goals and expectations for all development functions and team members.
• Ensure timely, accurate donor data entry, management and reporting in the CRM.
• Manage portfolio and pipeline of prospects to support goals.
• Identify innovative donor engagement approaches to increase philanthropy.
• Develop revenue forecasts and scenario planning models.
• Represent the organization in high-level meetings and fundraising discussions.
• Oversee department budget, forecasts, and performance dashboards.

Education

Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, philanthropic studies, communications, sociology, or equivalent experience
