Job summary

Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI, is seeking a Director of Development for the Colleges of Business Administration and Science and Engineering. The role leads fundraising strategies, builds donor relationships, and coordinates with a broader development team to advance annual and major gift programs.

The Director will oversee a portfolio of donors, plan programs, and drive initiatives to meet fundraising goals, including annual giving, major gifts, and corporate/foundation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Six years of professional experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or related field.
• Demonstrated successful relationship development experience in fundraising, sales, customer service, or alumni/donor relations.
• Must be able to make compelling direct solicitations and support others with plans.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a team while maintaining trust.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and online applications.
• Must be able to travel and lift promotional materials.

Responsibilities

• Manages a portfolio of 200 donors and prospects using the university’s Advancement CRM.
• Engages donors and prospects to build a sustainable major gift pipeline.
• Identifies and launches initiatives to drive donations toward strategic priorities.
• Leverages social media and virtual tools to build relationships with constituents.
• Develops qualification and cultivation strategies and solicitation plans.
• Meets deadlines and follows standard operating administrative protocols.
• Keeps current with research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship best practices.
• Stays knowledgeable of current events within the university and communities served.
