Job summary

The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum seeks a Development Coordinator to lead corporate, foundation, and government funding efforts. You will craft proposals, manage deadlines, and coordinate reporting with leadership and staff across museum programs.

Ideal candidates have grant-writing success, strong writing/editing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with partners. Expect evenings or weekends for special fundraising events and program support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated grant writing experience with track record of securing commitments.
• Ability to interpret grant guidelines and craft compelling proposals.
• Excellent written communication and editing skills for proposals and reports.
• Experience researching funders, gathering data, and presenting findings.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work collaborative with staff, Board, and partners.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and edit competitive funding proposals, including budgets and related materials.
• Coordinate with Executive Director and departments to gather information for funding opportunities.
• Prepare presentations for funder meetings, internal briefings, and committee updates.
• Research funding opportunities and maintain a portfolio for operations, programs, initiatives, and campaigns.
• Track proposal and reporting deadlines in a centralized calendar and coordinate deliverables.
• Cultivate relationships with funders and align proposals with funder missions.
• Coordinate interim and final reporting for all grants awarded.
• Maintain donor records, proposals, and reports with accurate data.
• Collaborate to track outcomes and report on grant-funded programs.
• Draft and distribute acknowledgement letters and gift acknowledgments.
• Record grants and gifts in Salesforce and monitor pipelines.
