Job summary

The American Heart Association in Florida offers a hands-on Internship Program for college students seeking nonprofit experience. The role blends office work with community events, averaging 25 hours per week with 75% in the St.

Petersburg/Tampa Bay area and 25% remote. You will assist with event logistics, volunteer management, and marketing collateral for signature events such as Go Red for Women, Heart Ball, and Heart Walk.

Qualifications

• Seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in hospitality, business, event planning.
• Demonstrated excellence in written communications.
• Ability to interact professionally in a corporate, non‑profit environment and guide communications and projects from inception through completion.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of Canva and Microsoft Office is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Reliable Wi‑Fi connection and reliable transportation.
• Minimum availability 20hrs/wk, M-F; nights & weekends as needed for signature events.

Responsibilities

• Event Logistics: Support Tampa Bay’s Signature events and manage auctions, setup/breakdown, and timelines.
• Volunteer Management: Maintain a volunteer database and respond to inquiries.
• Marketing and Collateral: Design or edit slide decks and event materials, and assist with external communications.
