Job summary

U.S.VETS Long Beach is seeking a Development & Communications Manager to lead fundraising and community engagement, driving donor relationships and local partnerships in Long Beach, CA. You will work with national leadership while executing site-based strategies and events.

The ideal candidate brings nonprofit fundraising experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including events, corporate, and individual giving
• Demonstrated success securing donor investments and sponsorships
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

• Lead site fundraising initiatives to exceed annual goals (approx. $750,000)
• Build and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and community organizations
• Plan and execute signature fundraising events and sponsorship campaigns
• Collaborate with national leadership on integrated fundraising strategies
• Represent the organization in the community through presentations and partnerships
• Track donor engagement and fundraising activity using donor databases
• Manage local marketing, social media, and public relations efforts
• Share client success stories and mission-focused content
• Maintain fundraising and communications calendars and develop branded materials

About the RoleReporting to the Executive Director of our Houston site, the Development & Communications Manager leads local fundraising, marketing, and community engagement efforts that sustain critical services for veterans and their families.
