BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is seeking a Developer III to join our DevOps-focused Monitoring, Observability, & Pipeline team in Columbia. You will support and enhance the tools that power our development pipeline, writing scripts, building tests, and automating processes while owning and supporting platforms the team manages.

The role requires hands-on experience with pipeline toolsets such as Artifactory, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitHub, SonarQube, and DevOps Deploy.

Qualifications

Day To Day: We are looking for a developer to join our DevOps-focused Monitoring, Observability, & Pipeline team. This role supports and enhances the tools that make up our development pipeline, so candidates should be comfortable not only writing scripts, building test code, and integrating automation, but also owning, administering, troubleshooting, and supporting the platforms the team manages. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on knowledge of pipeline toolsets such as Artifactory, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitHub, SonarQube, and DevOps Deploy. All positions require participation in a week-long on‑call rotation roughly five times per year.

Duties

• Perform all phases of applications systems analysis and design. Analyze systems specifications and develop applications to support information systems processes. Prepare detailed specifications from which complex programs will be written. Design, code, test, debug, document and maintain these programs. Formulates scope and objectives through research to develop or modify complex systems.
• 20% Ensure team members understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions, organizational standards are maintained, and applications are delivered according to project timeliness. Provide expert system knowledge, perform research, attend meetings, and review documents.
• 20% Maintain and modify programs according to specifications. Code, compile, and implement application software that is delivered on time and within budget. Evaluate basic interrelationships in immediate programming area to determine how changes in one program will affect another related area.
• 20% Test modified programs, create necessary test files and data, verify logic, debug, and write relevant documentation.
• 20% Analyze production systems, recommend systems enhancements, provide instruction to production support team. Research customer issues and determine appropriate resolutions. Coordinate implementation of modifications or enhancements.
• 20% Analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems. Develop functional design and technical specifications, concept diagrams, and work flow diagrams and related procedures to process data using appropriate systems environment/platform. Document programs/procedures.

Minimum Required Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of applications/development, quality assurance and integration methodologies, concepts and facilities in a mainframe, midrange, and/or PC/LAN environment. Strong analysis, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills. Demonstrates logical abstract thinking and assimilating/adhering to project goals and deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team. Strong knowledge of interpersonal skills/team building. Familiar with project management concepts. Pays attention to detail. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors etc.

Minimum Required Software and Other Tools

Strong knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and development tools and their usage in the company.

Work Environment

Customer‑focused, project‑oriented programming environment. Fast paced, multi‑platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.

Minimum Required Education

Bachelor's degree-in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job‑related degree.

Degree Equivalency

4 years of job related work experience or 2 years of job related experience plus an associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree

Minimum Required Work Experience

4 years-of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.

Required Technologies

• Python/JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with pipeline tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, DevOps Deploy, GitHub)

Nice to Have

• Having experience with more than one language is a big plus.
• Experience working with and integrating external APIs (particularly HTTP restful APIs) a big plus
• Containerization experience a plus (OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker)

Pay Transparency

• This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay someone for this position is $40.00/hour - $51.00/hour W-2.
