Job summary

Allen County Detention Services Officer position at the Allen County Juvenile Center seeks an attentive professional to maintain safety and security for staff, juveniles, and visitors. Under Shift Leader, you ensure orderly operations, perform searches, and supervise daily activities with a focus on secure confinement.

Responsibilities include escorting movement, coordinating with health and education services, maintaining records, and assisting with transportation and emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with one year in a detention setting preferred.
• Supervisory skills needed to supervise juveniles and juveniles waived to adult jurisdictions.
• Strong written and verbal skills including report writing.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and other job related computer software programs.
• Must be 21 years of age or older and physically capable of essential functions.
• Valid Driver’s License to provide transportation for residents.

Responsibilities

• Supervises detained juveniles and residents’ daily activities.
• Process new juveniles upon entrance to general population unit.
• Performs searches of sleeping rooms and common areas for safety.
• Escort movement within the facility for meals, recreation, and health checks.
• Maintain confidential juvenile files and proper documentation.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with transportation as needed.
• Attend trainings such as CPR/First Aid/AED and PREA.
