Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Detention Officer (City Marshal's) to perform jail guard duties at the Dallas Inebriate Detention Center or Dallas County Jail. Responsibilities include processing, booking, fingerprinting, medical screening, and ensuring security across 24/7 shifts.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of experience or an associate degree in a related field, valid driver's license, and ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Process incoming/outgoing prisoners and escort to designated areas.
• Book, fingerprint, and medically screen prisoners per guidelines.
• Conduct searches and maintain property inventory.
• Operate security systems and monitor prisoner activity.
• Maintain logs and write incident reports.
• Assist with intake processing and medical/mental health care as needed.
• Keep cells clean and ensure facility security.
• Work varied 8-hour shifts in a 24/7 operation.
