Navajo County is seeking a Detention Officer Recruit to begin training in the Detention Academy and facility operations. This entry level role supports custody, control and welfare of inmates while gaining on-the-job experience and defensive tactics training.

You will participate in an academy (7–12 weeks) and complete required tests. The position requires flexibility for varied shifts, a valid AZ driver’s license, and the ability to work in a demanding, 24/7 environment with a commitment to

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Successful completion of Detention Certification Academy.
• Ability to pass polygraph, drug test, fingerprinting, and tests (physical/psychological).
• Valid Arizona driver’s license.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in control, monitoring, movement and activities of inmates/detainees.
• Maintain safety and security of the facility, personnel, visitors and inmates.
• Assist with inmate/detainee counts for accuracy.
• Process bookings/releases and maintain detention records.
• Escort inmates by vehicle or on foot; conduct searches.
• Perform general administrative duties and respond to emergencies.
