Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the El Valle Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas, seeking a library coordinator to plan and oversee detainee library programs. You will enforce policies, select materials, and supervise detainees assisting in the library, ensuring safe, orderly access to resources.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus related experience and pre-service training; a Texas driver’s license with good record is required unless waived.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of library, clerical, administrative or related experience required.
• Must successfully complete required pre service training.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize library program for detainees.
• Adhere to and enforce library policies and programs.
• Select, acquire and organize library materials for convenient access.
• Review requests, and select books and other library materials according to mental state, educational background, and special needs of detainees.
• Coordinate the work of detainees assigned to assist in the library and supervise detainees using the library resources.
• Regular attendance required.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
• Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
