Job summary

AGS, an Akima company, seeks a Facility Captain for its detention facility in Aguadilla, PR. The role oversees 50+ staff through subordinate supervisors, ensures compliance with DHS/ICE standards, and coordinates daily operations under contract requirements.

You will plan workloads, mentor supervisors, monitor service delivery, manage invoices and timekeeping, and maintain credentials and access to required systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Supervisor Detention Officer or 5 years in field supervision.
• US citizen or permanent resident and have resided in the US for the last five years.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check.
• Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
• Pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
• Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Possess a valid state driver’s license (Cat4 preferred) and Firearms license under PR regulations.
• Ability to obtain a state security guard license from the state.
• Maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States.
• Knowledge of day-to-day operation of a detention services center.
• Knowledge and skills in ensuring maximum level of safety and security to protect detainees, staff and facility.
• Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public.
• Follow and understand written and verbal orders, policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 50+ staff through subordinate supervisors and manage 4-5 first-line Detention Officers.
• Plan and schedule work daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly converting priorities into tasks.
• Counsel staff on performance, pursue improvement and policy modifications.
• Monitor delivery of services and propose operational improvements.
• Submit requests for policy changes and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Oversee timekeeping, billing, and invoicing for detention and transportation.
• Ensure staff credentials and system access are current.
• Provide monthly performance and statistical reports.
• Oversee custody, transportation and removal of violators as required.
