Job summary

Akima Global Security seeks an Armed Detention Officer to join its detention facility in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The role involves detention, processing, safeguarding, escorting and transporting detainees under contract requirements.

Responsibilities include enforcing facility rules, maintaining order, operating restraints and security equipment, conducting vehicle and area inspections, logging activities, and ensuring safety and compliance 24/7.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of detention, law enforcement, military, or security experience with detainees.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident with at least five years residency in the U.S.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass criminal background and consumer credit checks.
• Obtain and maintain DHS/ICE clearance.
• Pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
• Medical exam and health requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and firearms license in PR.
• Residency in Puerto Rico.
• Maintain physical fitness standards.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and languages.
• Ability to report in English.

Responsibilities

• Detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort and transport of detainees.
• Maintain order and discipline and enforce facility rules.
• Operate restraints and security equipment as required.
• Record entries in transportation and processing logs.
• Conduct area and vehicle inspections prior to/after transport.
• Ensure equipment is in proper working condition and radios are charged.
• Assist with housing, feeding, and detainee well-being 24/7.
