Job summary

Boundary County Sheriff’s Office seeks a Court Security Officer / Bailiff to serve as a certified Detention Deputy, providing in-house law enforcement and courthouse security. This armed role demands strong judgment, integrity, and the ability to handle inmates and the public with professionalism.

Responsibilities include custody of inmates, medication dispensing under medical direction, and coordination with court staff; ongoing training and physical fitness are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 12–24 months of related experience in law enforcement, detention, court security or similar field preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain Idaho P.O.S.T. level 1 Detention certification within one year from date of hire; handgun and firearms certification; and certifications for less‑lethal tools, defensive tactics, OC pepper spray, First Aid and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-house law enforcement and court security at Boundary County Courthouse and courtrooms.
• Maintain safety, order, neutrality, integrity and confidentiality for judges, staff, jurors, witnesses and the public.
• Oversee care, custody and control of inmates; conduct security checks; perform bookings and releases as required.
