Buncombe County Government is seeking a Detention Center Maintenance Technician III to lead a three-person crew in maintaining and supporting the Detention Center’s operations, safety, and functionality. The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance across carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and related trades in a county facility.

The ideal candidate brings four years of maintenance experience and a high school diploma or GED, with safety training and a valid NC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years progressively increasing experience in one or more maintenance trades, with safety training.
• Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance and repair work in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, welding, and electrical trades.
• Maintain related paperwork such as work orders and purchase materials or seek bids per policy.
• Lead and supervise a work crew of three maintenance technicians.
• Assist in ensuring facility safety, operations, and functionality.
