Job summary

Fannin County Detention Center in Bonham, TX seeks a Chaplain to direct and supervise religious programs within the facility. The role requires coordinating volunteers from the community, providing spiritual guidance, and overseeing religious services for inmates and staff.

The ideal candidate will hold required ecclesiastical endorsements, be ordained (preferred), and possess strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Meets the certification standards of the American Correctional Chaplains Association.
• Properly credentialed to conduct religious services according to the teaching of his/her religion/denomination.
• Must have current ecclesiastical endorsement by appropriate religious certifying bodies.
• Ordained minister preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all aspects of the religious programs.
• Train both lay and clergy volunteers from faiths represented in the population.
• Provide spiritual guidance and clinical pastoral education for personal, family and spiritual problems.
• Hold religious services, sacramental observations and educational programs for inmates/detainees/USMS.
• Organize religious volunteers from the community.
• Provide and update programs for inmates/detainees/USMS.
• Provide religious counseling for inmates/detainees/USMS, family members, and staff.
• Prepare a schedule of all religious activities.
