Job summary

Veritas Management Group (VMG) is seeking a qualified Local Facility Chaplain to lead the Religious Services Program at the Port Isabel Detention Center in Los Fresnos, Texas. This full-time onsite role provides leadership for a multi-faith program serving a diverse population and coordinating volunteers and clergy.

The chaplain will deliver pastoral care, oversee services and accommodations, and work with facility staff to ensure access to religious resources while respecting security

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Religion or related field and five years of ministry experience.
• Or ten years of ministry experience without a qualifying bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in detention/correctional settings.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Strong communication and volunteer coordination.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, administration, and oversight of the facility’s Religious Services Program.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee multi-faith religious services, programs, instruction, observances, and holy days.
• Provide pastoral care, spiritual counseling, crisis intervention, and individual support.
• Conduct pastoral rounds throughout the facility, including restricted units as permitted.
• Ensure equitable access to religious practices and services within security requirements.
• Recruit, coordinate, support, and oversee clergy and lay volunteers.
• Help with volunteer screening, orientation, scheduling, and compliance.
• Develop relationships with local clergy and faith communities.
• Collaborate with facility leadership and other departments on accommodations.
• Maintain religious materials and resources, and program documentation.
