Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) hosts major ATLAS project activities and operates the Omega Group focused on detector construction and commissioning. A highly skilled mechanical technician will support assembly, qualification, installation, and commissioning of detector systems for HL-LHC upgrades and LBNF/DUNE experiments.

The role requires a combination of education in technical fields and extensive experience with precision assembly, quality assurance, and working in ISO-classified

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus a BS degree in a technical field and 4 years relevant work experience OR
• Technical Institute/AA/BOCES certification with 8+ years relevant experience OR
• Technical high school certification with 9+ years relevant experience OR
• 10 years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assemble delicate components in a cleanroom environment.
• Operate complex lab equipment such as microscopes, wirebonders, and metrology machines.
• Provide specialized mechanical and electrical support for detector systems.
• Record-keeping of inventory and fabricated components.
