Job summary

Nucor is seeking a CAD detailing assistant at our Lexington, NC facility. You will develop working knowledge of AutoCAD and RebarCAD, detail simple reinforcement projects, and prepare placing drawings under supervision.

The role includes on-the-job training, a starting pay of $20.00–$23.00 per hour, regular reviews, a strong benefits package, and opportunities for growth with North America’s largest steel producer.

Qualifications

• Legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Vocational certificate (or enrolled) in CAD design/drafting or related degree.
• At least six months experience using AutoCAD and Windows-based software.
• Ability to read architectural/engineering blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Develop working knowledge of AutoCAD and the basics of Rebar Fabrication detailing system.
• Detail simple projects with minimal supervision (foundations, walls, footings, piers, slabs, stairs).
• Submit placing drawings for approval and ensure QA and shop requirements are met.
• Process change orders to maximize branch returns and maintain fabrication deliveries.
• Communicate with customers, placers, and engineers on project questions; submit RFIs as needed.
